Why is my Sims 3 freezing during installation

I haven't played my game for awhile because my remote was messed up I jist bought a new one an when I was trying to connect it my game beeped a few times an shut off I turned it on am hit connected the controller but now I have to install a dlc update on my system an when it gets to 100% it freezes I really want to know wht to do
