MacBook Pro 13 Early 2015 very long wake up and power on problem

I've discovered my system got won’t wake up after going to sleep (when left for over 6 hours where I think it goes for deep sleep mode). But also when it’s switched off for that time.

When sleep for about 15 minutes or off for 15 minutes - wakes up / powers up instantly. It is happening every time - It’s very strange!

  • It does not matter if charger connected or not.
  • Have reset SMC and PRAM - no changes.
  • Fresh and with no apps at all latest macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 installed - no changes.
  • Holding D for diagnostic no problems at all.

Clicking on Power Nap on and off does not change anything.

Any help without going to Apple Store?

Thank You for helping me :)

Charging port cleaned with isopopryl alcohol very well

I’ll do that battery disconnection in few minutes - but I’ll be able to confirm if any changes tomorrow because I have to leave MacBook unused for about 6 hours

Update (08/15/2018)

additional info: it is discharging with about 10Watts - sometimes with about 7 Watts sometimes with 13 Watts.

When disconnected battery and holding power button for over minute - it started right away - but we will see tomorrow morning when I leave it on Sleep.

I have to admit - it is really crazy situation - I had few MacBooks with problems but never like this problem - I could understand when MacBook would not switch on - or would have battery drain problem - or report and problems in Diagnostics - or I would have any apps installed or it would behave strange - but NOTHING - it works PERFECTLY - just that wake up / power up and after about 6 hours (because even when left for about 30 minutes - it is all fine)

Might sounds it is bit connected with temperature of something - but why it is switching on anyway - but after about 1 minute?

Update (08/18/2018)

Just wish to add - yesterday morning it woke up…. instantly (after about 8 hours off) today morning …… again it took it about 1-2 minutes to wake up :/

I was thinking what I done 2 days ago that it woke up instantly but I am using it just for web browsing only.

Madness :(

Another hint

I’ve discovered that when MacBook does not want to wake up - I am able to feel “Taptic Feedback” / click when constantly clicking to wake up - and when constantly clicking - I feel that Feedback for about 15 seconds and then….. “dead” no Taptic Feedback - for about few seconds - and all over again - till it wakes up after 1-2 minutes.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Lets see what the batteries condition is. Download this gem of an app: CoconutBattery and take a snapshot of the apps main window and paste it here for us to see: Adding images to an existing question You do want to take the picture with the charger plugged in.

After that lets try disconnecting the battery and then hold the power button just to make sure the SMC has reset. Here’s the IFIXIT guide to follow: MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2015 Battery Replacement for now just follow the first 6 steps. Then set the system on its side so you can reach the power button. Press and hold it a good 60 seconds. Then carefully plug the battery back in did that alter things?

At this point I think we need to focus on the drive. Do you have a USB3 SSD drive? If you do lets install a working OS on it and boot up under it. You’ll need to use the option key when you restart your system to get to the Start Up manager. How to select a different startup disk lets see if thats faster if it is then we need to use Disk Utility to fix the drive. You also may need to free up disk space. A 128/256 GB drive really needs about 1/3 of it free. A 512/1TB drive needs 1/4.

Is it for checking if SSD is faulty? What about checking it with DriveDx app?

I forgot about this app - I would do this now - but Apple took it for Anti-Reflective coating peel Program Replacement for few days - and so far no response from them (to let me know if there is something wrong with it to refuse replacement) and so far silence from them (after 3 days) - when I get it - I'll run that app on it and I send You screenshot how many hours SSD was on and SMART status - thank You for helping me

Yes, the issue was to remove the possibility of a bad drive.

Given the fact you are getting the system serviced for the screen I'm sure Apple will also deal with the boot up issue as well,

I wound't run anything on the SSD many of these older drive programs don't help but only hurt your drive. Unless you have one thats designed for SSD's don't use it.
