Replacement battery not being recognized in IOS 11.4.1

I bought the battery replacement pack from ifixit for my iPhone 6S and after installing the new battery on my device IOS battery doesn’t seem to read the replacement battery to gauge the performance. Is that normal?

They've carried a number of stories in their newsletter sort of addressing that issue. It's one of the things that Apple does to fight repair shops / self repairs that are done outside of Apple certified locations.

There was even a lawsuit brought against them for bricking displays with an iOS update.

Yes, sometimes the newer iOS systems won’t “recognize” a non-Apple component. They’ve done this sort of thing before, and even prevented components from working. As long as your phone is firing up, I’d call it a win.
