Memory module and heat pipe sensors at 128*C while other are normal

The temps dont seem accurate as they are the the only ones that are that high and the computer is not warm at all. The fans run at full speed and the computer is running very slow. Computer has no water damage. Also the computer will not go to sleep when the lid is closed. All I’ve done to the computer is replace the hard drive and upgraded the memory. I did that about a year ago and it caused no problems. This just started happening a few weeks ago. I’ve tried reseating the ram. I’ve tried resetting the smc and that didnt work either.

Your logic board needs some repairs. The SMC sensors are inputing incorrect values which is causing the SMC to go into safe mode. Safe Mode is when the CPU’s clock is dropped to a slower clock rate so eat CPU doesn’t overheat.

This is beyond a DIY project as you’ll need to read schematics and test voltages to locate the fault.

What could of caused logic board damage as Ive never spilled any thing on it. And noone else has as I bought this computer new in 2013 from apple. I can still use the computer in Windows 10 in boot camp as the windows 10 isnt laggy with the issue but the fans still run high. I looked in the schematics and couldnt find where the sensors were. I dont know how to surface mount solder, Im ok at threw hole soldering.

Things break! No always by misuse, sometimes age or component fatigue.

You'll need to fond someone with the deeper skills and tools to diagnose the exact cause often the SMC chip or the components around it fail. Thats all I can tell you. The other option here is finding a replacement logic board and just swapping it out. Now the computer wont turn on but the fans spin and the sleep light blinks. This is my second mac to have logic board problems i have 3 macs. A iMac g4 that works. A 2006 intel imac withe bad gpu and now my curent machine is down. I have a dell optiplex that works but only has 2 gigs of ram guess ill have to use that till i get ne pc. I cant afford a new one now and that logic board replacmet is expensive

Sorry! I feel your pain! 9 or so years is not bad! I'm on a 2012 MacBook Pro 15" and hope it holds out another year (hopefully Apple builds a real MacBook Pro instead of the bling boxes they've been producing). I have two other systems, this is my mobile workhorse!

I would recommend the logic board over a new system! Apple hasn't been doing to well with this current MacBook Pro series they have major keyboard issues. And the new i9 is a waste as it's thermally throttled.

I dont like the new macbook pros i like to have usb and other ports and light up apple logo. My macbook pro has cracked glass and cracked track pad and is really scratched up and dented and missing some screews and esc and z key are missing along withe their domes and the hinge is lose and keyboard back lights dont work and it dosnt chime any more and the battery indicator liggts dont work and it dosnt sleep when lid clossed. So idk if it would be worth replacing the logic board

I would ask Louis Rossmann for a quote… He dealt with a similar issue on the 2017 MBP successfully.
