Boot Chime Loop. EFI problem or logic board fail?

Hello all, I mistakenly attempted to boot from an external drive which had Clover EFI installed. my macbook air froze and now it powers up to continuously sounding a single chime every so many seconds and will not show anything on the screen. before this happened it was working fine. I have tried resetting the SMC and other recommended key combinations while booting. Nothing has worked. I even pulled it apart and tried disconnecting the battery as if that would reset anything. I was looking into a Chipmunk Matt card but not sure if this would help my situation. I think the EFI was corrupted by the Clover on the usb drive, I can’t see how it would have done any physical damage to the logic board. has anyone had any luck with this or been in a similar situation and was able to fix the problem without having to trash the pc and purchase a new machine?

Thanks.

Yes, it does sound like Clover messed you up. I’ve seen this before and the only way to fix is to replace the EFI chip.
