I lost bolt to mower blade, how do I replace it?

When I went to tune up my mower, I first took off the blade to have it sharpened, then went to work on the carbeurator...when I went to put the blade back on, the bolt was missing from where I placed it. How do I replace it?

Go back to the place that you removed the bolt and look for it. Gremlins mainly deal with airplanes and do not bother stealing bolts from lawn mowers.

Already did that. Spent 2 days looking.

Look in your socket wrench. The local mower people will have one.

It might be easiest to go to a lawnmower repair shop and tell them what model of mower you have and what bolt you lost. They should be able to hand you a new one for a few dollars. If there is just one bolt as is often the case, it is likely a left-hand thread, and not what you are likely to find in the hardware section of Walmart.

P.S.

You didn't by chance screw the bolt into where it came from to prevent losing it, did you? ;)

that particular bolt is not on any "parts list" for the mower that I have...the "parts list" only relates to the engine components. And, no, I did not screw it back into where it goes...I placed it on the body and covered it with a tarp to prevent the "gremlins" from playing around it, which, apparently, did not work...

Take a big magnet to the area and you will find it.
