reinstalling operatings system after hard drive replacement

I am installing a recently purchased hard drive from ifixt it. I have done this in the past(several years ago.) and was looking for the instructions of reinstalling the operating system from using time machine.

As I vaguely remember it, it involved after installing the new hard drive, one would boot it with the original installation disc, go to utilities, format the new drive, and somehow go to time machine and tell it to reinstall everything to the new hard drive, which would include the boot system. I can no longer find these instructions on your site. Where would they be?

Start up from your system installation disk (hold down the "C" key to boot from the optical drive. Go to the second screen pull down menu to Utilities > Disk Utility. Select the drive on the left and format it Mac OS X Extended. Next give it one partition. Close Disk Utilities and install the system. Reboot and go to Migration Assistant and move your data from your external hard drive.
