Car wont shut down

2000 xsara picasso 2.0 diesel.

When the brake pedal is pressed the car won't shut down, Can pull the key out, rev, but as soon as I let go of the brake pedal the car turns off. Please help

Perhaps you could install a remote battery disconnect switch. Hit this switch, and your car will shut off.

Here's one on Amazon for $46:

This switch is a solenoid, which means that it won't put full power in the switch you are going to flip in the car. Also, it doesn't draw power, so it won't run your battery down.

If you go with this switch, make sure you research how to wire it, because according to the comments, the instructions which come with it aren't clear.

Also, keep in mind that when you hit this switch to disconnect the battery, it will be just like you removed the battery. In other words, you may need to reset your radio buttons and your clock.
