Can I put my motherboard into an iCloud locked iPhone 8

I own an iPhone 8 with a cracked screen and for some reason the home button does not register a press. Touch ID works fine though. I have a friend who is selling an iCloud locked iPhone 8 and I was wondering if it would be possible to put my motherboard inside his phone. If it’s possible, will Touch ID work?

Answer this question I have this problem too

The motherboard is the phone, you are essentially just swapping phones with your friend.

And no, Touch ID will not work. The board and the button has to stay together.

At least with older models, so long as you swap the button from your broken phone onto his functioning screen, and then use your board it should work!

It would be easier to just take the screen off your friend's 8 and put it on yours. When you do this you need to swap the home button so the Touch ID / home button will at least work the same as it does now.

The only reason to swap the logic board out would be cosmetic (ie you like the color of your friend's better than yours or there is damage to yours)
