Charging port replacement doesn't work

I have replaced the charging port on my iPhone 6 three times with new units. Each time the phone has little or no reception and cannot place or receive calls. I put the original port back in and each time everything works again. I even requested a port from one place that was compatible with Verizon CDMA and had the same results. I don't know how much longer I can get my phone to charge before the port craps out completely. Does anyone know why none of the replacement ports will work?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

1.) Why are you changing a working charge port?

2.) Are you fully installing these ports or just overlaying them to test?

I have to fight with it to get it to charge. The original port is very loose.

I did a complete install on all of them.

Ok, sounds reasonable. eBay and Amazon are the absolute worst place to get parts. Buy one from iFixit since they host this forum that offers free advice, and forum hosting is not free. When you get the new port, compare it to the old port under magnification--do you see missing small components, missing silicone "hot glue" protectant? The crappier parts are usually obvious compared to the original. Make sure that you are connecting your antenna to the board that some on the new charge port. Post pictures on here of your work if you're still having trouble.

I copied this from my comment on the answer above;

Well, I bought a new port from iFixit and put it in. The result....even worse than the Ebay and Amazon ports. I cannot send or receive calls or texts and I have no sound. I put the original port back in and everything works again. Just to double check I put the iFixit port back in and nothing works again. Doesn't anyone sell the Apple parts that actually work or are those for Apple repair centers only?

by

No one sells Apple OEM parts, and "Apple repair centers" don't exist--Apple does not change charge ports at any price. I understand that you bought an iFixit port--great, return it and try another one AFTER you check under magnification for how close is the iFixit part to the original. iFixit is not immune from selling bad parts just like anyone else, HOWEVER they put a lot of resources into customer service. I've brought systematic parts problems to their attention on more than one occasion and I know for sure that they pulled the remaining stock and made sure the next one they sent me didn't have the problem I mentioned.

I already e-mailed them to return it but I still have not received a response.

Have you tried ordering a port from iFixit? Were the others ordered from eBay or Amazon? If your original works and the replacements dont, then there's a good chance you just received duds. The places I order from are original Apple parts (you can see the Apple logo on them) and I rarely have an issue.

I bought 2 from 2 different dealers on Amazon and 1 from Ebay that was supposed to be for Verizon CDMA. I didn't notice if they had the Apple Logo.

I'd buy from iFixit just to quadruple check. I havent purchased replacement parts from Amazon or eBay for years because of getting consistent bad parts from multiple suppliers.

There are some other suppliers that sell original parts that I purchase from. Injured Gadgets and Mobile Sentrix both offer original charging ports. Unless their suppliers have changed, you can see the apple logos marked out on them.

Brian, All of the ports on those two sites now say "Aftermarket Quality".

I tried the restore and it didn't help.

If another part was bad then the original part wouldn't work either, would it?

by

if its not the port then the original port is probably still good. but i still wont get your hopes up, it could be your audio ic chip which you can fix if you have micro soldering skills, but if not, I know there are a lot of ebey people that offer iC repairs
