SSD drive swap from a Late 2012 to an Early 2015 MBP

Hello,

I have great friends who upgrade their computers often so I ended up getting an upgrade too!

I just got an early 2015 Macbook Pro 13”, and previously had a Late 2012 MacBook Pro 13” retina.

My new computer has a very small SSD and I would love to upgrade at some point. My 2012 MacBook had water spilled on it, so I will most likely not be able to sell it, but I’m wondering is there any way to swap drives?

If I removed the SSD from the 2012 would it be compatible with the 2015? I haven't been able to find an answer.

Thank you so much for the help!

Unfortunately no, the 2012 Mac and 2015 Mac have different SSD interfaces. SSDs from 2012 and 2015 are not compatible and not interchangeable.

You can source an OWC Aura drive, or a used Apple original SSD from online vendors.
