Hi I got a brand new lenovo touch screen .. it heats up the once turned on i don’t know why i feel so bad and i don’t know what to do it is brand new .. still fan works with it’s full speed once I switch on and it heats up from bellow and above as well

by

@Duaa Alherbawi ,

What is the model number of the laptop?

Does the fan continue to run at high speed even if you just turn it on and don't do anything on the laptop for about 5-10 minutes and then check if it slows down?

by

Thank you for your reply sir, yes once i turn it on and it is brand new Lenovo touchscreen but i dont know the model name ..

by

@Duaa Alherbawi ,

The model number should be on the information label that is on the bottom (or underneath) of the laptop

by

THank you so much for your patience the model number is 81TK touch screen

In this laptop there is no way for me to work while it is on charger as it heats up massively .. I must charge it first then work else the heat wont allow me to touch it ..

Hi @crgunay ,

Here’s a link to the service manual for your laptop.

Scroll to p.42 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove / replace the fan + heatsink assembly, so that the fan and fan vents can be cleaned and the thermal paste covering the CPU can be refreshed.

do the fans need to be replaced where can i buy the fans for this laptop

Hi @crgunay ,

You say that they're running fast at the moment so it's not a case of them not working and needing to be replaced.

Try cleaning the fans first (and the exhaust vent)as this will make them more efficient. Use a small artist's brush or similar and a vacuum cleaner to gently clean the fan.

Also replacing the thermal paste will allow for better heat transfer from the CPU to be removed by the fan action, as the old paste will have dried out and will be less efficient. Look on YouTube for how to do this.

Are you performing laptop resource intensive activities on the laptop which is causing the laptop to work hard, e.g. playing high end games etc?

If so has your laptop got enough resources to comfortably do what you want, e.g. is there enough RAM?

Just a thought.

If you need a replacement fan just search online for "(insert your model laptop number) fan part" to get results for suppliers of the part.

by

or is just a cleaning enough

by

Hi @crgunay ,

You'll know once you've cleaned it and re-assembled etc and then see how it performs ;-)

by

ok i will look in to all your suggestions. So thank you very much. Basically I play league of legends and that shouldnt be to resource intensive

Hi @Duaa Alherbawi,

I think that the model number is Lenovo Ideapad C340 is this correct?

If so check that the fan ventilation slots on the back edge of the laptop (I think) are clear from any obstructions.

Also check that you can hear the fans operating in the laptop and feel the warm (hot?) air coming out of the vents.

If you can’t hear the fans or feel the air then there is a problem with the fans. There are two fans in the laptop.

As you have a very new laptop, (I assume that it is less than 12 months old?) contact the Lenovo service section as per the manufacturer’s warranty statement that should have come with the laptop as to what to do to get it repaired under warranty. That’s what warranties are for

If it is still under warranty, do not open the laptop yourself to investigate the problem, as this will void the warranty.
