Display issues

Hey there I have a question regarding my iphone 3G.

I got this phone from a friend of mine because he got a new one. The only thing was that the screen was not correctly working (as you can see in the attached picture). I bought a replacing LCD and build it into my phone. sadly this did not change the problem. it actually made it worse. The screen is now almost all white,in the background you can slightly see what you should see.The screen is also flickering in white an black stripes.

Do you have any suggestions what I could do to fix this issue?

Thanks a lot!

Clean your connections with rubbing alcohol, especially #1. I had the same problem for months. Then while repairing another iphone took mine apart to deduce what was wrong with hers. Well it's still black screen but I did clean my connections and now it works great. The other phone I haven't figured out. It's completely black screened. As if the brightness were all they way down. I think it may be a shot LCD. Mine works thou. YAY. I really would rather hers working.
