LG 32LH70 LCD TV : led light just on and off!

hello, i have 2009 LG LCD TV 32LH70YR model ..last time due to some power surge my tv power board and motherboard got damaged. The technician...repaired it with replacing some of the parts...it started to work...but later some light green display was seen.

now after 1 year ...again i am facing issue..the main led light just onn/off but i don't get any picture ?

technician again suggested to repair the main board..with same charges ...but green display was able to resolve it...

1 ) lcd ribbon cable need to be replaced ?

2) should i repair this model ( power board or main board issue ? ) or opt for new tv

last time i already spend around $$...again i need to spend around $$

can anyone please suggest best solution ?

Thanks

You posting of the parts costs suggests to me that you are replacing the boards rather than repairing the boards. If that is the case, I too would suggest replacing the TV. If the boards can be repaired by replacing faulty components, the cost should be less.

Specific to your described problem: Is there sound or does the TV completely shut off? If you are just not getting the picture, than the back light may be out. This can be caused by a number of different reasons and may have nothing to do with the power surge.

The bottom line here is that your location suffers from inconsistent power. Rather than have these problems over time, I would suggest investing in a small UPS type system that will help to prevent the surges. Prevent the problem rather than fix it after the fact. It will be well worth the investment.

Based upon those symptoms, I think that the power supply board took the hit this time. IT is likely relatively easy to fix if you have experience. just replacing the board with a good one will work, but will cost more.

the technician said ..to again repair the main board ...with same charge ..the green color issue is with the cable or repaired i.c on the board ..)

Hi,

Given the age of the TV and the possibility of not easily being able to get replacement parts, it may be best to upgrade to a new TV.

You don’t know by how much the other parts of the TV were affected by the power surge and how susceptible they now are to any power fluctuations etc.

If the screen etc is still in a good condition etc, you may be able to recoup some of the cost of a new TV by advertising yours as faulty TV - screen OK or something similar.
