After opening the case the first time it won't turn back on!

Let me begin with this, I was givin a 30 gig ipod video this morning from my friend. well, it turns out the thing had the error where you had to plug it into itunes and it would restore, simple enough right? NO. The hard drive was clicking so some website said to smack it against your hand , so i opened the ipod (at the top stupid me) with a x-acto knife, looking back on it now, not a good idea and since i took the case off it won't power on! All the ribbons are back and nothing turns on and I don't know what to do. Please help , i go on vacation tomorrow and I need it fixed ><

Brayden, the number one thing that I would check for at this time is the battery, the battery cable and the battery connector. Make sure that the little clip that holds the cable in the connector is pushed down to hold the cable. Of course you may have further issues like a Bad hard drive and the smacking stuff is really no more than a temporary fix, if it works at all. I would most certainly replace the drive. make sure that the cable from the back cover is also connected properly. Check all the cables and make sure they are all the way in and that the clips that secure the cables are ALL properly seated. Give that a try and let us know.....Good Luck and have a great vacation
