Why are my indoor images so dark?

When I take photos outside or in the sunlight, the photos develop perfectly, but indoors, the photo is very dark and basically ruined. I can't tell whether or not my flash is broken either.

Hi Sara,

The flash should always fire in every picture. If it flashes, it’s working. There’s a very slim chance for a flash to be “partially working”.

With the camera off and the lens pushed into the camera, try turning the exposure ring around the lens. Can you feel it want to “spring back”? If not, the shutter speed control is not working correctly.
