The liquid indicator turned red, but everything is working perfectly.

I dropped my iphone 7 in a swimming pool and checked the liquid damage indicator which turned red. However, the device is working perfectly and has no obvious problems a few days later. Should I be worried or get it repaired??

From what I've heard, it doesn't take much for those indicators to turn. If it looks clean inside you may have been lucky. Do you have AppleCare?

It looks fine Inside the SIM card slot. I've put it in a bag of rice overnight to be safe. I don't have apple care sadly.

Hi! I also have a similar issue just that I didn’t drop my phone in the pool.

LDI turned red but my phone was still working.

Any reason why the LDI may be affected?

at this time I would sit back and see what happens. this “put it in a bag of rice overnight “ really doesn’t do anything. It is the equivalent of doing nothing. Your phone would most likely function just like it does now without the rice. May be the increased water resistance of the iPhone 7 saved your bacon on this one. If it received water damage it will usually manifest itself later. You can always see what the experts like @refectio think about this one. If unsure then I would recommend you send it to somebody that special with this type of “repair”

If the water damage is to manifest itself later is there anything I can do now to dry it out before the damage gets too serious as the phone is new and I'm on a contract.

only if you totally disassemble it and either clean it with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol etc. or have someone professional do that for you with an ultrasonic cleaner. you up to that?

This is totally your call, but I would still strongly encourage backing up your device and get it inspect for liquid damage. Water damage may not present itself right away, but overtime the corrosion may damage the phone.

Is there a away to inspect for possible water damage without opening up the iPhone or taking it to be repaired?

by

The device must be opened up. Cables need to be disconnected and inspect. The board must be removed and inspected both sides.
