Is my Vizio M70-E3 panel destroyed? I can't tell.

I have a Vizio M70-E3 that I dropped when moving into my new house. It only fell about 6 inches, as it was in the process of being lifted, and struck the bottom left corner (when looking at the screen).

The TV would still power on, but the screen would not display anything. The backlight still worked, though.

I've taken the TV apart to see if I can find where the actual damage is and what I found is somewhat interesting, albeit still probably bad news.

With the back cover and front bezel off I can power on the TV and now see a display. However it seems to be darker in the left portion of the screen. Can someone who knows LCD panels look at the picture and tell me if the panel is damaged, or if it's something else that I can fix?

The dangly bit is just the board for the power LED. IT's actually what took the brunt of the impact.

that half-moon mark in your first panel could be a damaged panel but it does not look cracked. The darkness can be caused by disconnected/torn/damaged backlight array’s. You will have to remove the panel completely and you need to get to the backlight arrays. There will be most likely a frame around the LCD panel that holds it all together. If you remove that, you should get to the backlights. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. At this time you do not have anything to lose. So go for it! Let us know what you find.
