Repairing switch on iMac

Don't know if you saw my question, but maybe you could refer to it. It had to do with replacing the on/off switch on my iMac.

The question was basicly, do I have to removed the CPU board and go all through those steps or can I just go up to about step 14 and then just remove the left speaker to get to the switch?
