iPhone SE will only turn on when plugged into outlet, does not respond

When plugged into outlet, will show the plug into iTunes screen. The second I unplug it, it dies. Battery doesn't seem to hold a charge (I just put in a new one).

When plugged into a computer (both MacBook and iMac), phone will not turn on, cannot get to the iTunes plug in screen or Apple logo. I can put it into DFU mode but then gets stuck on "Waiting for iPhone" status in iTunes.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like the logic board might damaged, but it's hard to suggest anything without any info on iphone's history. Not to let anything untried you could try replace the lightning connector..data/power flow through it on the way to itunes and power ICs and since it's an inexpensive part it would be good to rule it out as a possible faulty component. An inspection of the relevant connector on the logic board would be needed too.
