The Early 2009 Mac Pro—also known as the Mac Pro 4,1—introduced Intel's Nehalem architecture to Apple's line of professional desktop computers in March 2009. The Mac Pro 5,1 used the same interior design but received further CPU updates in 2010 and 2012.

Cpu butting after 5 sec its freeze

Hi guys

Sorry for my poor English :)

I have the following Mac Pro system:

  • Model Identifier: MacPro5,1
  • Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
  • Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
  • Number Of Processors: 2
  • Total Number Of Cores: 8
  • L2 Cache (per core): 256 KB
  • L3 Cache (per processor): 12 MB
  • Memory: 18 GB

I would like to upgrade from a 2.4 to 3.2

I changed the CPU and I put the 3.2 and it worked but after 5 seconds then it freezes. Is there any firmware for the logic board or am I doing something wrong? Because its boots but then when window come up the mouse stops working and everything freezes.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

What was the source of your 3.4 CPU? New or used? Did it come out of a Mac? What was the cost and where do you live?
