MacBook air starts, but after restart fan just start/stops

Hey guys,

So i did a replacement of the logic board because the other was water damaged.

so far, so good. I then turned it on and the startup chime came, run the diagnostics and it said there is a problem with the battery and it needs a firmware update.

Restarted but this time the fan just starts/stops. If i unplug the battery it will start correctly again, but when i shut it down then the same happens. Tried doing SMC reset, but when i reset the pram, it does restart at the startup chime, but then fan start/stop again.

Tried replacing the fan but didn't solve it.

Been running and using the computer for an hour now, and no problems, except when i restart i have to unplug the battery, to get the fan spinning and computer starting normally.

Edit:

Tried turning the macbook on just with charger and unplugged battery, does the exact same thing. Just closing the lid and opening again works fine, as long as it's not shutdown or restarted.

Here is how i solved it:

i couldn't figure out what was causing it, because the weird thing was that everything was working perfectly, except when i did a restart or a shutdown. So I pulled the battery completely from the macbook and restarted the computer just with the power cord. the same thing still happend. Then i shut it down, removed the power and put it back in, i then pulled the keyboard cable and after a restart i put it back in and assembled the whole thing.

I was about to give up and send the logic board back for a replacement, when i turned on the computer one last time, and did a software update, this time it was able to restart. Been restarting 30+ times now and works everytime, been able to shut it down, too and turn it on.

Don't know what the exact problem was, but it seems to work now

I do not understand why, but this works perfectly. Had the same issue after a battery replacement of a macbook A1417 and an update to the latest OS solved the issue.

Good news, the logic board is fully operational and working! When you turn on the MacBook the fan automatically starts to spin in case any components inside the computer are already hot. When you aren't running any processes on the computer though it should stay a consistent fan speed of 2000 RPM (depending on your model but 2000 is for most) It may be a connector issue please send us a picture of the logic board with all the connectors in so we may diagnose it.
