I would like some guidance on repairing my MacBook Pro keyboard

My backspace has gotten to the point where it doesn't work completely anymore. I would like to try replacing just the keyboard and not the entire assembly.

So from the 1 single video I have found for repairing the keyboard, the person said that the battery needs to be removed. But, he was also replacing the trackpad for the owner so if I only need to replace the keyboard, is that necessary?

Also, when removing my current keyboard, do I just need to pry it off from the back, get rid of remaining keycaps from the front, and insert the new keyboard just from the back?
