Cranks and Starts Sometimes

My 2006 Nissan Altima has been cranking and starting but sometimes it would just shut off while I'm driving. Now it will only crank and not start. Someone said I may have a bad fuel pump. How can I find out what the problem is? Are there other things that I can check first since a fuel pump is so expensive.

Hi @gulfport152 ,

Get the OBDII port scanned for codes using a scantool.

Any codes shown will give an indication of what is going on in the engine

Its most likely the fuel pump. Grab a friend and have them try to start it while you beat on the gas tank. Sometimes that will get the fuel pump to kick on. If it does you will know its a bad fuel pump? You also mite be able to hear it by turning the car on without cranking it.

I started this morning, but I did get someone to check it out and they believe that it is the Fuel Pump going bad
