Is it possible to install a sapphire screen onto a base model Watch?

I was wondering since the screen dimensions are exactly the same on the sapphire model Apple Watch and base model then would that mean if I wanted a sapphire screen I can just take a screen from a watch edition and put it onto a series 1 Apple Watch and it would work?

You’ll need to stay within the same series as the screens are a bit different between them.

As for doing it you do realize you’ll get less light transmission thru the sapphire and it fractures easier than the gorilla glass, lastly you’ll make the watches watertightness less reliable!

The only difference is scratches are less likely to occur, I’ve been wearing an Apple watch for a long time and I have not encountered a scratch issue with the gorilla glass.

Bottomline: not worth the effort and the cost, cheaper to buy a new watch!
