iPod Nano won't shut off

I have a 5th generation ipod nano. I was recently listening to it and the hold button broke off. I was able to stick something skinny in there to toggle it but now that whole section is off. I'd like to be able to turn it off seeing as its still playing. Is there a way I can turn it off until I can figure out how to fix it?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Although I’ve not taken my 5th gen apart, I have taken apart other iPods. Usually, the part of the hold switch that you move with your finger is just a slider, and the actual switch is underneath, on the circuit board. If you could somehow get a thin, long plastic or wood object and toggle the tiny little switch, that would unlock the buttons.
