Why does my phone shut down because of low battery every 5 minutes?

My phone always shuts down like every 5 minutes or more the moment I take off the charger when it clearly says it is at 100% but it still shut down apparently to low battery when it was like at 97% ?!? I don’t get this phone ! Can someone please tell me how to fix this issue and what to do also when I have been charging it for hours it still shuts down like 5 minutes after I unplug it.

It would help if you told us which model iPhone you have.

If it is an older model, then I suspect you have a dead battery. When it reaches the end of it's life, it can no longer hold much of a charge. It will appear fully charged but it doesn't contain much "juice" so it shuts down the moment the device asks for too much power.

You can replace a battery yourself or bring it to a shop (or Apple).

Get a new battery ASAP as it is nearly dead and keep the phone for a backup but get another phone as Apple is easy to use but is a POS when it comes to battery life.As it dies you end up leaving it on the charger and that KILLS IT. That is experience talking and it only gets worse then you can't turn it on.
