Is my display broken?

I upgraded the RAM. Had an issue with the new RAM causing the three beeps I think it was because I did not seat the RAM correctly after reinstalling it I rebooted the iMac and the display showed this: https://imgur.com/a/qUm4x4U

Block Image

It is a moving static waving like antenna TV's did before digital was implemented.

Update (05/27/2018)

I tried the old RAM to no avail. I also tried just one stick of the original and new one. Still had the static.

When I booted with no RAM I got the single beep indicating the system detected no RAM.

I went to Best Buy (figuring Apple does not service older devices) who said it was probably a broken logic board and did not want to waste my money looking at it.

After all that I figured all hope was lost but went ahead and took it home (it was at my office) and plugged it into my UPS and it booted!

I am not sure if it was a problem with the outlets at the office (our laptops have no issues yet) or if the logic boards just running on borrowed time. But the system did detect all the RAM after I got it to boot and logged in.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Well I don't see many new things on repair these but this is one I have not seen.

First PUT THE OLD RAM BACK IN. Then let us know your results and we can go from there.
