MOUSE TOUCHPAD stopped working, after windows update today 22.5.18

Hi!

Today (22.05.2018) my laptop got updated and when I started using my laptop normally, my mouse touchpad suddenly stopped working.

Here's the list of mouse devices if it helps anything:

Tried updating both, didn't work.

Hi @machikono ,

Try installing the latest Asus Smart Gesture drivers and see if this resolves the problem.

Take heed of the Notes: regarding installation of the drivers

Update (05/24/2018)

Hi @machikono ,

You have an Asus GL552V laptop.

Try the following.

Go to this link and download and save the latest ATK Package and Smart Gesture drivers.

Ensure that you download the correct ones relevant to the installed Win 10 OS version in your laptop.

(To check if your laptop has Win 10 32 bit or Win 10 64 bit go to Settings > System > About > On the right side, look for the “System type” entry. It will show you two pieces of information—whether you’re using a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system and whether you have a 64-bit capable processor).

Remember where you saved them to in your laptop. Ensure that you have enough space on the c: drive ;-)

Next go to Settings > System > Apps and Features and UNINSTALL (remove) the ATK Package and then Smart Gesture.

Once both uninstalled, restart the laptop.

When the laptop has finished booting etc, INSTALL the ATK Package from where you downloaded and saved it to on the laptop.

Restart the laptop.

When the laptop has finished booting etc, INSTALL the Smart Gesture drivers from where you downloaded and saved it to on the laptop.

Restart the laptop.

Hopefully it will be OK.

Hi, thank you for the response

I'm trying to install it right now, but it keeps giving me the same message:

And I'm not trying to install anything else? I even rebooted my laptop to make sure, but it's still giving me the same error.

Try @machikono ,

Try going to Settings > System > Apps and Features > find Smart Gesture and see if you can uninstall it.

If it uninstalls try to install the new downloaded version.

This link may also be of some help.

Hi,

I can't seem to have it at all:

yet I can't install it. Continues to say "Another installation in progress", though I don't have anything else going on...

Hi @machikono ,

What happens if you try to uninstall the "Asus support device" shown in your 1st image and then restart the laptop?

(The one with the yellow exclamation mark)

Hi,

I managed to install Smart Gesture (couldn't earlier because apparently I didn't have enough space on C) but nothing changed. Also uninstalled Asus Support Device, nothing seemed to happen, but it came back after restart (with the same yellow exclamation mark).

Hi there,

I had the same problem. Went to the Asus page and got instructions from the online help rep. It seems to have worked. I actually did the uninstalling first before I downloaded/installed the new files.

Please copy and paste the links below or click them to download the driver.

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Apps...

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Driv...

If you are using Google Chrome Browser, the file will be downloaded automatically.

If you're using Internet Explorer, you will be prompted to “Open" or "Save" the file, you may save the file to your desktop.

Uninstall the current versions and Install the downloaded:

Step 1: Right Click the Windows Start icon then click Search

Step 2: Type Control Panel and then click it-> Select Uninstall a Program>Programs and Features.

Step 3: In the list of installed programs, look for ATK Package.

Step 4: Click on it to highlight and uninstall it. When it's finished you will be prompted to restart. Select Yes.

Step 5: Do the same for the ASUS PTP as well and restart too.

Step 6: After restarting, search for the ATK Package that you downloaded and Double click on the “Setup” or setup .exe file to run the application. After the installation, do the same for the ASUS PTP.

Step 7: Restart the unit after both drivers have installed.

Hi,

I did this all, but I didn't find ASUS PTP to uninstall, so I couldn't do that step. Jumped straight to installing the second link (after ATK package & restart) but it gives me this error:
