Does the Apple Watch loses it's water resistant with the time?

I have an Apple Watch Series 2 since september of 2016, i have taken my Watch into the pool several times, but now there's like 10 months that my Watch doesn't touch the water. Now I'm going to participate in a swiming competition. My question in, is my apple watch still as water resistant as new ? and how much time does it take to start losing it's water resistance ? (With normal use and wear) it doesn't have cracked display or nothing. Thank you.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Ian,

The waterproof ability of devices should not deteriorate in that short amount of time.

I hope this helps,

Charlie

The only risk is excessive use of suntan oil/lotion or bug spray which softens the glue that holds the sensor as well as the display.

Otherwise, your good!

Water resistant is not the same as waterproof. Don't take it in the pool.

Water-resistant: able to resist the penetration of water to some degree but not entirely.

Water-repellent: not easily penetrated by water, especially as a result of being treated for such a purpose with a surface coating.

Waterproof: impervious to water.

Is it going g to make you swim faster? It not take it off! I had reason to have a Rolex dive watch, so I know how long I have been at 120' and how long and how much time I needed to ascend. My life was one the line.

I'm not going to swuim faster. But it is nice to have a monitor of my activity, and even more if apple makes this watch for swimmers as you can see in their web page.

@mayer - Apple offers a tracking app for swimmers for the watch.

Unlike the Series 1, the Series 2 is designed to be used swimming (surface) or other water sports like sailing and surfing.

The only risk is the sensor and display adhesive becoming soft from the oils and solvents used in suntan oil/lotion and bug spray.
