Genuine Apple replacement battery

So following on from earlier thread about my battery usage in not working.

It seems it's probably the new battery I had fitted at my local shop. The guy is adamant it is a genuine battery.

I have taken a photo of my original battery next to the battery he has installed and they don't look the same. Can anyone confirm if that is how the replacements come from Apple?

Hello fraz1001,

For the battery, only apple can provide a 'genuine' apple battery replacement. Apple does not sell their batteries to 3rd party repair companies. However, this isn't to mislead you into thinking its a bad battery. Most, if not all, 3rd party repair shops, use quality batteries. For the battery usage not showing up, I'm afraid I will need a little bit more insight on what you mean is and is not showing up. If you can follow up, I would like to help as much as I can.

Hope this helps!

I only get battery usage and stand by times.

I no longer get the app usage data for 24 hrs and 7days.

After doing a bit more research, I found out other people seem to have had this issue. I even have the issue because I've replaced my battery, but I don't use it so it doesn't bother me. While researching, the solution seemed to be to take it to an Apple store where they use genuine batteries. Once again, not to say that 3rd party replacements are bad, but they are not genuine. If you wan't the usage back, I would recommend taking your phone to an Apple store and getting the battery replaced for $30. Just a heads up, there is a wait after the whole influx of people when they confirmed they slowed down old phones. I wish you the best of luck and hope that fixes it!

Unfortunately my 5s isn't covered by the cheaper replacement policy.

Hence me going to a local shop

Sorry to hear that, but hopefully my answer gave you insight on possible issues and resolutions. Best of luck!

Any battery manufactured before the new iOS 11.3 released would not recognise the old chip
