Can't sync nano with itunes

an ipod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. what should i do because this message comes up all the time then itunes disconnects the ipod

Options

Try performing a reset of the Nano following the steps here. If that doesn't work I would try with different USB cables/ reboot the Mac or PC also.
