"No Service" And "Searching" Errors, what to replace?

Hi IFixIt!

I am repairing a near new iPhone 5s that was damaged in a power surge about a year ago. The phone was roughly 6 months old when the power surge occured.

I now get mixed errors of "No Service" and "Searching..." when trying to use the phone with a SIM inserted.

I was wondering what parts I would need to purchase in order to fix this error. If links could be provided that would be fantastic.

Have a good day!

If it's still in warranty take it to apple for a replacement.

They wanted $410 dollars if they found the damage to be "intentional". Although it wasn't intro, I didn't want to have to risk paying 410 dollars as it is more than I paid for the phone. This is in AUD.

A few things to check as this is probably a board-level issue:

- Do you get a IMEI number printed when dialing *#06#? Don't post the IMEI here as it uniquely identifies a phone.

- Do you see Modem firmware and IMEI displayed in settings general about phone? Also what does it say under the network box in that page as well?

by

Nothing happens when I dial *#06#. No Modem Firmware in about phone, but imei shows. Network says not available.

by

No modem firmware means it's a hardware issue that requires micro-soldering.

Up to you whether you decide it's worth fixing as this is generally not worth it.
