Home button replacement still wont work after many replacements

The original Home button was destroyed so have bought many screens and home buttons and none work still. Switched a screen and Home button from ipad air 1 , that was working and it does not work either. So thinking there is a procedure to get it to go from a finger print reader to a regular home button. Any thoughts on this or did i miss a memo. I’ve replacement several screens and batteries before and home button tif is in all the way. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Answer this question I have this problem too

You need to use the home button made specifically for the iPad 5th gen which is essentially a replacement iPad 5 home button.

You can't use iPad Air 1 (I have not tried the Air 2 ones which have touch ID but may work) home buttons, I tried doing one this week with it and it did not work.

My 1st 4 replacement digitizers were for ipad 5’s . None of them workedand the air one screen had a replacement home button ordered for a ipad 5 . So NO your conclusion is not right. I’m thinking either something is wrong on the board from the damaged original home button or some other reset needs to be done I’ve seen in a video but forgot to try when the new screen was on. I do have two buttons coming from ifixit and will try one of them. Thanks for your experince in what’s worked for you but as usual everything i get seems to be outside the norm. I’ll wait and see. Just wondering if all the parts I’m getting are just bad ?
