Not charging after most things being replaced on charging circuit

Hi.

I have an iPhone SE that came to me with a battery percentage error and not charging. The phone would recognise the lightning cable being connected but would not pull any amps.

The first thing I did was check the battery terminal when the lightning cable was plugged in to see what the charging voltage was and verify Tristar and Tigris was working. This was showing 0.9V, so i replaced Tristar and the voltage came up to 3.9V on the same test. But hence when the battery was connected, this voltage would drop to battery voltage eg 3.4V. I also noticed FL2400 was missing at this point and replaced it, (I assume this is why my % was incorrect), but still not charging.

So to keep this short, I've replaced most things on the charging circuit, checked for shorts, checked all resistances and i still can't get it to charge (battery, dock, tigris, Q2300 etc). All my voltages look fine but it just won't 'open the floodgates' for my amps to flow to the battery. My observations with the ammeter connected are it would fluctuate between 0.1-0.45A when the screen is on, but as soon as the screen goes to sleep, it drops to 0.0A.

About to send it back as a no fix, but thought I'd ask on here first in case someone has had a similar problem.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks, Sean.

any damage near l4001_rf or u_qpoet_rf as pp_batt_vcc is round that area

Not something I've looked at but it's certainly worth a check. Thank you for your feedback.

In some scenarios like this (0.45A then 0A or trickle), the battery can be causing the issue. How confident are you with the replacement battery?

I would also check C2300 and L2300 as they are critical in supplying the "juice". Sometimes those coils get loose and they cause problems.

Yeah, I've had one where replaced tristar multiple times, charging dock then once I changed the battery the percentage was finally going up.

This is a very rare occurrence but I did manage to get one time where tigris, battery and charging dock were all faulty at the same time.

That would constitute as a sh!tty day :>).

Well it was a brand new battery I tried it with, and the customer also told me his battery was new, and both had the same symptoms so I'm pretty confident its not that. I have had an oscilloscope on the input side of L2300 and I'm getting a nice flurry of square waves of PWM's, and on the output side this averages out to a nice straight DC of about 3.9V (with no battery connected). The PWM's stop when the battery is connected. Its almost as though Tigris is being told to shut down when the battery is connected, even though the batteries are only running at about 35%.

Thanks for your feedback by the way.
