Hi @jimyandsandi ,

You have to contact your landline phone service provider and request a change of number. They will connect the new number in the telephone exchange to the line.

I'm not sure I understand your question.

As I understand it, you want to plug a standard landline telephone into a standard landline telephone jack.

If this is the case, then you don't need to do anything to the phone with regard to the number that the phone will use; you simply plug it in. The phone number is associated with the phone service, not with the phone. The phone simply uses whatever number is already associated with the service.

There are only two things you need to be concerned about:

1. If the phone uses batteries, make sure that it has good batteries installed.

2. If the phone jack is a "DSL" phone jack (that is, if you have DSL internet service on your phone line), you will need to plug in a DSL filter to the phone jack, and then plug the phone into the DSL filter. If you don't use a DSL filter for the phone in this case, your phone will get damaged when you plug it in.
