HELP! Dropped my phone in water. (Read Description Before Answering)

Ok so I actually have the ZTE Blade Max 3, I just dropped it in water but it was in the water for a bit because I did not know that it had. I know how can someone not realize that they dropped their phone in water, but I am seriously so upset. I am 3 hours from family and that is the only way I can communicate with my parents. Anyway, my phone is in rice right now but its constantly turning on and going to the startup screen that says ZTE. I am not sure if my phone is fried or what. I just need to know what to do, and I also read that with a built-in battery you can disassemble the phone and dry the inside of the phone to. PLEASE HELP ME AND TELL ME WHAT TO DO TO SAVE MY PHONE!

*****UPDATE! It is not turning on and to the startup screen now, its just off*****

Update (05/12/2018)

And I also have not touched since it is in the rice, and since before I put the update but of my question.

Hi @cwhite14 ,

As you know water and electronics and electricity are not a good mix.

The impurities in the water causes corrosion and provides circuit paths for the electricity which were not in the phone's operating design and could damage the components.

Rice is good to eat but does nothing to fix the problems caused by corrosion

Don't Put Your Device in Rice. Here's Why...

First do not turn on your phone and then you need to with the phone turned off, remove the battery as soon as possible from the phone to minimize further damage.''

Then you need to dis-assemble the rest of the phone and clean all the affected parts using Isopropyl Alcohol 90%+ (available from most pharmacies) to remove all traces of corrosion and water. Do not use "rubbing alcohol" as in some cases this is <70% IPA, can contain scents and is not as effective. If you do check the label to verify the amount

Here is a link that describes the process.

Electronics Water Damage

You may have to replace the battery as it is very hard to recover a battery from water damage.

As always with electronics, especially surface mounted PCBs be gentle when handling and especially when brushing away the corrosion. You do not want to remove any components from the board.

Hopefully after you have done all this the phone might possibly work correctly again.

Here is a link to a video showing the LCD screen replacement for a ZTE Blade Z Max which may be of some help. (I couldn't find one for your particular model phone, which shows how to open it).

If this process seems too daunting, take your phone to a reputable, professional phone repair service, experienced in water damage repair and ask for a quote for a repair.

If you decide to do this, do it sooner than later.

Rudy Vallejo no , it does not. Rice does not do anything. It only provides you with a false sense of security letting you think you do something. It is a total waste of perfect rice. Don't Put Your Device in Rice. Here's Why...
