Where to buy a logic board?

Hello -

I have a an Imac Model A1312 with an EMC number of 2374. It was purchased on 1/4/10. It has a Quad i5 2.66GHZ processor, 1 TB HD, and 8 GB ram. Recently the screen whent white then black. I took it to apple and they confirmed that the logic board is bad and that it will run $1400 to fix. What are my options? Should I just get a new computer? Can/should I part this Imac out? Are there Imac's on the market that are being parted out with good logic boards in them? Can I get a logic board from you?

I am not an Apple guru but I know my way around x86 based architecture. Have you tried hooking an external monitor up to it? Besides the screen does the rest of it seem to function??

Options

Your logic board part number is 661-5429. A quick Google search for that part reveals several available starting at about $1000. I wrote to the company that does my logic board repairs and just got an answer. They will repair your board for $650.00 , 1-3 days turnaround, with warranty. I've used these folks and been satisfied with their repairs. It sure beats that $1400. http://www.dttservice.com/index.html

I had to write because they do not have the 27" machines listed yet.

But before shelling out, how about giving us your symptoms, there are some very good techs around here that might be able to help and it only costs you a little time ;-)
