Question about ambient light sensor.

So, I’ve been reading reports of things going wonky with some peoples phones after a new screen replacement. I bought a new front assembly from iFixit, but haven’t actually done the replacement. Will the ambient light sensor still work? I’ve done front assembly replacements on older iPhones and everything worked fine, but I’m hesitating because I need my iPhone working properly.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hello irixion, I have repaired many iPhones, what you will need to make sure of is to first check the new screen for any plastic films that may be blocking the sensor hole. You will also need to make sure you transfer the original ambient light/proximity sensor flex onto the new display, (Unless it arrives with pre-installed parts) Always verify the functionality of the sensors before completely reassembling the device as this will save you time. Try making a call and place your finger over the sensor, it should turn the display off as your ear normally would during a call. You can also test the ambient light sensor by using the phone in various lightings. I hope this will help you with your repair!

Best of luck!

Does the iFixit front assembly come with proper ambient light and proximity sensor and flex cable? I’ve replaced iPhone 5sfront assemblies but never a 6

I'm not sure, I have never used parts from ifixit. If it does, it would be installed near the top of the display under the ear speaker and you should see a silver panel already screwed in. if not, then you will need to transfer it from the original screen.
