Computer turns on but says error and attempts to go in repair mode

My laptop was working today after not being used for a while, but all the sudden it won't turn on fully. Starts up to start up screen and then after a while it will say like an error screen for a second and then restart to go into automatic repair mode and then goes blank and does nothing. Even let it sit for a while and still was blank. Please help. Battery doesn't charge either, only turns on when plugged in. If that helps at all. Thanks.

Try removing the battery and running straight off the power supply . I have had occasion when a dead battery can cause issue with a laptop . you may also want to do a static discharge to get a clean boot .

1. Disconnect the power cord

2. Remove the battery

3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds, then release for 30 sec and then hold down for another 30sec

4. Plug in power and power on laptop.

If this causes no Joy try this.

Remove memory and reinstall one stick at a time, if there are more than 1 DIMM of RAM, try each stick in each slot one at a time to see if the memory is ok and to determine if one of the memory slots is bad.
