Why will my iPhone5 only power on when pluged into my computer?

My iPhone will only power on when it is plugged into my computer, but it does not recognize the device. It goes straight to the support.apple.com/iphone/restore screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Could be a dead battery, when you unplug your phone does it shut off right away?
