computer won't recognise the new hard drive

I installed a new unformatted hard drive in my MacBook and the system will not recognise the new HD HELP Disk utility does not show the new HD

Try reattaching the hard drive cable. If that doesn't work replace the cable with a new one.

Did that-both ends of the cable. It looks to be in good shape.

Do it again or put the drive in an external enclosure. Where did the drive come from, why are you replacing it?

I got the drive here. It's a 750GB 7200 Seagate SATA. Physical installation went well (3x!) but the MacBook wont recognize the HD

I had the same problem w the origional drive and store teck said it was the HD so i replaced it. I have the Snow Leopard OS disk in and disk utility doesnt see the HD
