Silent Switch Becomes Tough when Screen is in place

Hi,

In the period that I have owned my phone, the silent button has had no issues until now. Recently, the switch will refuse to go into the loud position, and requires quite a bit of effort. However, it will still switch to silent with ease.

After some exploratory search in the phone, I found that when the screen is lifted away from the device, the silent switch will continue to work as per normal, and switch both ways with ease. It is only until the screen is clicked back into place that the problem persists.

I know this isn't a huge issue, but it would be nice for the silent switch to be in working order again.

If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated :) .

There is certainly something that is out of alignment. When you remove the screen, you will notice some metal tabs that protrude (they have screws to hold the LCD Heat Shield), look through this guide for reference.

The tab nearest the Mute button may be bent enough that it is causing friction or resistance.

So I've had a look at the heat shield. There are no tabs that come anywhere close to the mute button..

I also found that by pushing on the screen by the mute button, causes the silent button to stiffen up further?
