Why is MRI saying that the new battery can't hold a charge?

I recently bought a new battery from iFixIt for the device indicated and installed it. When I run MRI (Mac Resource Inspector) with the power adapter plugged in, the program is reporting that the that the battery can't hold a charge. Is it because it's a third party battery?

I suspect you have other issues. While it's always possible to get a bad replacement part (any) I would do a deeper diagnostic to understand if the MagSafe, charging logic and the connections themselves are in good working order first.

I haven't seen any other issue.

It's normal for 3rd party batteries to show up as defective in MRI. Apart from that they'll still charge and function properly, just like the Apple ones.

MRI is a bit of overkill ;-} I would just focus on AHT (Apple Hardware Test) which is onboard.

As for starters did you allow the system to charge the battery a good 14 hrs? Did you calibrate the battery to make sure SMC is tuned to the battery.

I would also check to make sure the charging logic was OK. How about downloading CoconutBattery it will allow you to see the battery, charger and SMC. Post a snapshot of the main window and past it here for us to see Adding images to an existing question

I have AST set up on my network. MRI was reporting that the PBus voltage was too high, but now it's the normal voltage. Coconut Battery and macOS state the battery is in Good condition and absolutely fine. I already reset the SMC after my Mom said that it drained really quickly, but I think she was using battery intensive programs. I will try calibrating the battery and see if anything changes.
