Constant loss of connection to sim card

Every 5-10 minutes my phone will notify me that there is no sim card inserted (even though it is in there amd hasnt been moved) and will disconnect me. Problem is (briefly) solved when I restart the phone, but then it happens again quickly.

Hi @rizu6 ,

Try swapping the SIM card from your phone with a known working network compatible SIM card from another phone and check if yours works OK in the other phone and if the other SIM card works OK in your phone without problems.

Doing this will eliminate or confirm if the SIM card is the problem. Hopefully it shouldn't take to long to show up one way or the other.

If the other SIM also shows the same problems in your phone then the problem may be with the SIM card reader in your phone. It may not be exerting enough tension on the SIM card to ensure a good connection

Here is a link to the ifixit Samsung Galaxy S7 Teardown guide.

It is useful as it shows how to dis-assemble the phone so that access to the reader is possible.

As it is a SMD (surface mounted device) component, you'll need SMD soldering skills and tools to effect the replacement of the part.

If this seems all to daunting, contact a reputable, professional mobile phone repair service and ask for a quote to repair the phone.

I tried this, and it's been 2 days with no disconnects, so hopefully the problem has been solved. Thank you!

Hi @rizu6 ,

What worked then?

If swapping the card worked then what? Did you swap it back and it stills works OK or did you get a new card.

I only ask as it may be helpful for someone else who comes across this page, in the future.

Glad it (whatever 'it' is ) worked.

Cheers.

It does work on my iphone 11. Turns out the sim card is the problem. Thought I bought a defective phone…

I have an iPhone 12 max pro and I’ve had it for a couple months and it just started doing this today. I keep restarting it starts working again but not too long after it does it again. It’s so irritating!!!
