Is the electrostatic pad needed with an SSD?

When pulling the stock hard drive and replacing it with an SSD in a 2011 27" iMac, is it necessary to transfer the electrostatic pad to the SSD? I just finished my upgrade and looked down to see the silver electrostatic pad still on the old drive. Rats. I am hoping that this was needed because of possible static build up from an old-style spinning drive and isn't required with an SSD. Does anyone have any wisdom to share? I can redo the job if I have to, but I'd rather not.

Thanks,

Brian

Your fine ;-}

Even if you put the foam pad on it wouldn't help as the distance is greater height wise.
