iPhone having battery issues and is expanding

My iPhone 6 recently had a battery replacement as it was unexpectedly shutting down. This was about 2 months ago. I have noticed that the battery has already began expanding and pushing up the screen. I know this should not be happening. While on this new battery, it would shut down randomly, and when it tried to boot up, it would be stuck in a boot loop until it was plugged in. I removed the battery and replaced it once more, and now it is still shutting down. Through my research, I have come to the idea that the charging port may not be telling the charger when to stop. I think it is overcharging it, causing the battery expansion. Also, when in battery diagnostics in settings, it claims to not be able to detect the battery. Please help

Sound so like it's in need of a board level repair if it keeps cooking battery's, there is a power Management ic that can go bad.

I honestly didn't know if the chip you mentioned was on the board or with the port. Now that i know, i guess it may be time to buy a new phone

Make sure the charging cable you are using is certified "Apple". Many people don't realize there is a control circuit built into the lightning connector in the housing of the cable. Certified cable manufacturures use the circuit board supplied by Apple in the manufacturing of there cables. Cheap knockoff cable manufacturers use a few cleverly placed chips in there cables to trick the phone into accepting the charging voltage. These cheap cables can cause all kinds of issues, even damaging the logic board badly enough to disable the phone entirely. If unsure about your cable, either purchase an original Apple lightning cable or use an approved aftermarket cable brand like ANKER (Amazon or Anker.com). Hopefully this info is helpful.

What I’ve been doing is just replacing the battery myself every 3 months. It’s a huge waste of batteries but

Iphone 6's have had bad string of Tristar IC chip's which is the battery management chip. It will cause battery problems unless repaired unfortunately. Most board level repair shops like me will be around $100 - $150 to replace the Tristar IC. Hope this helps.

We never found the issue. The phone has been usuable, but not the best. I would recommend a new logic board since people say the ic chip could be bad.

Shame on apple- they know there is a defect, but dont say anything or borrect issue. Im on battery number 5. They r lucky she had a screen protector on and it did not explode and hurt her, cause momma would have went off!!

We saved for months to get her i phone 6s

And its only been a nightmare. Been unusable over half the time.

No more apples for this family.

Hey Pamela, after looking into it, the issue was indeed the logic board. Apple confirmed this issue when i called, but becuase the phone has been serviced by me before, there was nothing i could do. An iphone 6s, should be plenty good for a few more years. If the battery continues to expand, get rid of the phone. If any pressure it put on that battery, it had a high chance of exploding. i wish you the best of luck :)
