Why is my screen divided, part cover screen and part home screen?

At first my Kindle just had the "cover" screen so I did a herd restart many times and now I have Partial "cover" and partial home screen. When turned on I can see part of the content but still the partial "cover"....Ive included pictures of the screen. Any help is greatly appreciated
