All volumes deleted off the SSD. How to re-install them?

Hey guys.

I have an A1706 touch bar that has been fully erased.

All volumes including touch bar IOS are gone.

Does anybody know if there is a way to re install all volumes to the SSD?

Would cloning an identical macbook pro's drive onto the SSD work?

There is no response from the touch bar as it has zero IOS to run off.

Ideas and help appreciated in advance.

Heya @redheadordead

I'm a little confused, is the actual Operating System deleted? Are all partitions deleted from your SSD? Could you be a little more specific :3

Hey there. Entire drive has been erased by the owner accidentally via recovery disk utility not just “macintosh HD”. I will attempt internet recovery in the morning my time and see if it recreates the other volumes on the drive. USB install disk installation did not.

This is a touchbar laptop, so it is relatively new.

I would strongly suggest taking it to Apple if it is still under warranty.

I don't see a drive simply "lose" all partitions.

This looks more like SSD failure, in which case Apple may replace if under warranty or Apple care.

If it is not under warranty, this will get expensive and the only reputable source is OWC for 3rd party replacement drives.

To reinstall everything, if you have a fast Internet connection, you can use Internet Recovery to restore all factory partitions and OS.

@redheadordead The USB install disk and Internet recovery are not automatic. You do need to first use Disk Utility to create "Macintosh HD".
