Dell Inspiron 15-5559 Not Charging

My Dell Laptop will not charge, it says the carger is not compatiable. We have tried replacing the charger, the battery and the DC port in the laptop case. We also updated the bios. The computers works when the charger is plugged in, but will not charge the battery. It gives a message abount the AC Adapter unknown.

At this point I assume there is a problem with the motherboard and am looking for information on how to fix it.

Thanks,

Jerry

I do recall this happening to a Dell Laptop of mine aswell.

Are you sure the I/O port is not busted?

It's unlikely to be the motherboard though.

I know this might seem wrong, but have you tried using the wrong charger? (Before you say anything, I tried charging my Dell Laptop using an HP ProBook charger and it said it was the wrong charger, I then plugged in the Dell charger and it started working fine after)

I did replace the plug in the laptop already. In the case of this unit the plug is not directly attached to the MB. It has a cable that plugs into the MB.

I tried to change the internal dc cable part from the laptop with a faulty one and the specific issue appeared. Looks like that you need to replace this part...

Check the following part.

my dell is not charging, so I bought a new cord 65w, which the one I had b4 was 40w. so still not working. Now gonna buy a battery pack for the back, maybe batteries are not good. I'll see what happens after I get it!!!!
